Quick polishing at a car wash hides scratches under a layer of wax that is gone in weeks. Paint correction actually removes them by leveling the clear coat in graded stages with German Sonax and Poly Top compounds and professional machine polishers, so the result lasts months, not days. We measure paint thickness before we start so we never remove more than we should.

Does polishing remove deep scratches?
It removes scratches within the clear coat. Rule of thumb: if your fingernail catches in it, it's deeper and needs another solution.
